Reuben
(15 years old) – came to the Casa Ignacio in January, 2006. He was born in the mountains east of Lima, but came to Lima as a small boy with his mother. His mother had legal problems and spent time in the women’s prison (although was released without any judgement against her) in Lima. He was placed in a small orphanage in the southern part of Lima, run by the Sisters of Charity. He was recommended as a fine candidate after finishing grade school. He is entering his fourth year of high school (2009) and does reasonably well. He is sociable and has made many neighborhood and school friends in the three years he has been with us, and is spending more time with his mother and little brother. He would like to study something mechanical, like autos, machines, etc. |
