Alex Solano
(20 years old) – came to the Casa Javier in January, 2004. Born in the mountain province of Tarma (Central Mountains), he ran away from home when he was eleven years old, finding his way to Lima. The police put in him an orphanage where we found him. He was behind in his schooling (five years behind). He still had one year of grade school to finish. He is not an academic person and it has been a struggle for him to “catch up.” However, after five years of “normal” school, he decided to finish his final year in a GED school this year. He also is working part time in a downtown bookstore (3 days a week) and would like to enter a gastronomy institute sometime this year. Reuniting him with his blood family in August, 2006 has helped him mature. |
